From One Puppy to a Passionate Purpose

Platform Chinooks began not with a plan, but with a puppy.

In early 2019, we were asked to puppy-raise a sweet Chinook with no name for just a few weeks. The weather had delayed her flight from the Pacific Northwest to her breeder in New York, and we were simply meant to be a temporary stop on her journey. But this girl had other ideas.

From the moment she arrived, Minerva’s calm, confident temperament and eagerness to learn stole our hearts. Her intuitive nature, gentle spirit, and easy trainability were unlike anything we’d experienced. It didn’t take long before we knew—we couldn’t let her go. We reached out to her breeder and asked if Minerva could stay with us forever. To our joy, she said yes.

At the time, we had no intention of becoming breeders. But as we began showing Minerva and immersing ourselves in the Chinook community, we fell head over heels for the breed. We saw firsthand how special these dogs are—versatile, affectionate, intelligent, and deeply connected to their people. We wanted to be part of preserving and promoting that magic.

In 2022, we welcomed Minerva’s first litter into our home. It was a life-changing experience. Raising those puppies, watching them grow, and placing them with families who would love them as much as we did—it was a privilege. And it confirmed what we already believed: Chinooks are the perfect companions for all kinds of families, whether they’re destined for the show ring, the trail, or the living room.

Today, Platform Chinooks is a small, intentional breeding program focused on producing Chinooks with confident temperaments, sound structure, and excellent health. Our dogs are more than pedigrees—they’re beloved family members, therapy dogs, athletes, and ambassadors for a rare and remarkable breed.

It all started with one puppy. And it’s grown into a lifelong passion.

Platform Chinooks was born from love, curiosity, and a dog who showed us just how perfect this breed can be. 

And we’ve never looked back.

Our dogs are calm, intuitive, and people-loving—whether they’re greeting strangers at Meet the Breed events, working alongside their humans, or snuggling with toddlers at home. We breed for dogs that are emotionally intelligent, adaptable, and eager to connect.

💪 Built to Last   Structure matters. We focus on producing Chinooks with strong, balanced frames that support athleticism, longevity, and versatility. From FastCAT fanatics to Rally stars, to working in harness on the trail, our dogs are built to move, work, and thrive.

🩺 Health is Non-Negotiable   All of our breeding dogs undergo comprehensive health testing to ensure they’re fit to pass on the best to future generations. We’re committed to transparency, responsible pairings, and long-term wellness.

🏡 Not Just for the Ring   While we’re proud of our champions and top-ranked competitors, we know that not every puppy is born to show—and that’s okay. Many of our pups go on to be cherished family members, therapy dogs, hiking buddies, and breed ambassadors in everyday life. They carry the Chinook spirit wherever they go.

Our goal is simple: to preserve and elevate the Chinook breed by producing dogs that are as loving as they are capable. Whether they’re chasing titles or chasing squirrels, Platform Chinooks are bred to be extraordinary.
